In Favor of a Waiting Period!

That's right, I'm in favor of a waiting period. It's not what you may think, however.

In the aftermath of the tragic massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, many politicians are scrambling to create more laws to eliminate this from happening again. Will more law's really help? It's Doubtful. If you look, you will see that laws were broken in Littleton.

It has been reported that seventeen or more laws were broken during and leading up to that tragic day. As you can see, laws alone are not deterrents. You can pass all the laws you wish, but if someone is determined to do evil, they will do evil.

The President immediately began crying for more gun control. Not one of his recommendations would have prevented the shooting in Littleton. He is simply using a tragedy to push the distorted views of the left that infringe on the rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

The Metro Nashville Police Department released a report this week stating that criminal deaths were down nearly 50% in the first quarter of 1999, compared to the same period last year. Hmm. As I recall, Tennessee has a handgun carry permit. How can it be that crime is down? This is against everything the liberals would have you believe.

It is my recommendation that there be a 21 day waiting period before congress or state legislators can consider any legislation regarding 'gun control'. When emotions are high people are more apt to take drastic measures instead of using logic and common sense. But then again, when have they ever been accused of using common sense?
